So, as I have said already, the story itself begins in the 300-s of the IV Age, when Melkor returned to Arda. He himself though was not such a threat as it might seem, because this time he manages to state his peaceful intentions before the new war began and he retreated to the North again and lived there, surrounded by those who waited for his return all those centuries. (as Beleriand came to the surface again and was no longer a sea bottom, not due to Melkor's return, though. These two events had one cause - a catastrophical fight that ended up with opening the Door of Night (the doors of the Halls of Mandos were also opened during that.) This particular fight is not my invention though, but of one more fic-writer, whose continuation of the LotR was published here in Russia and enjoyed quite a lot of popularity among those who preferred less thinking and more battles. Still I used the opportunity for my own needs. The fight was between the Valar and some creature which I would also suppose to be a wight, for noone else can destroy half of Valinor.)

Still the troubles began with his return, because Daenar and Aivare (Eru's son) got through the opened Doors of Night too and started doing whatever they wished – mostly hunting or just manipulation the behaviour of the people who were unlucky enough to get in their way. Several times they tried to renew the war between the light and the dark, but in vain, because Melkor somehow effectively hindered their plans or had to amend the evil they had done. The other Valar had to interfere even, trying to stop Aivare (and Daenar also, who was becoming more and more like a wight). Their fights nearly led to the end of the world (namely in the 325 year of the IV Age) and Eru had to kick both trouble-makers out of Arda and erase some most awful moments from the memories of those who remained in Arda. However the ainur remembered, both inside Arda and outside it. The wights remembered too, though the majority didn't care much. Still there were some, who wished to interfere but could not (Telron, Alcar & Aegman, who cared quite a lot for Arda as any other ainu.)

Still for some reason, so far unclear to me in just two years after that Daenar was allowed to return to Arda, though this time Aegman & Alcar followed him in case of the necessity to stop him.

Daenar however did not realize that the second chances are given to improve one's behaviour, not to repeat everything again. He flew far to the East and quite easily conquered one small elven kingdom, Nilendor, by turning their king into a vampire. Alcar flew there too but it was too late to change anything so he had just quarreled with Annael (the king of Nilendor) and had to leave and wander in the nearby kingdoms (there were some adventures there, but nothing very important except the fact that adventures ended up in slavery.)

There he met (quite unexpectedly) Feanor, whose soul escaped from Mandos back in 303 and who was wandering since then, quite far from Valinor. They – and some more elves, who later played their part in the history, befriended and with the help of one boy, the khan's nephew, escaped. Feanor then moved to the West, while Alcar and the other elves went further to the East to the realms where Alcar roamed before.

Meanwhile Daenar began building some magical defenses around Nilendor which made the Valar worried again, so they caught Daenar (with some help from Alcar's side) and took to Valinor where he was deprived of all his power. Then he could go wherever he wished – and he returned to Nilendor and lived there, angry and unhappy.

But… (oh, strange are the ways of fate!) Dae's behaviour during the whole procedure of catching and taking his power away impressed Alcar so much, that he changed his mind to almost opposite to what it had been before, so he decided to organize some kind of a cult, worshipping Daenar. Around it in some time there gathered a small kingdom (with Alcar & his friends as rulers & priests at the same time.)

So far that's all, but there are still many plots and adventures ahead =)
The continuation of the short retelling that is not so short =)

And here’s the link to the family tree of the wights, with some more explanations there. Hope it’s comprehensible. ;) [link]

P.S. My fic [link] (Just One More Truth) is supposed to be about these events.

Ahh nice to know a bit more backstory on Daenar. I'm trying to figure how he ended up the way he did in your little story I read. Guess I'll need to read the next to find out ;)
